David Stroup is the Program Manager at the Center for Surgical Treatment of Obesity at St. Mary Medical Center. He has extensive experience, both back office and front office, in a patient care setting and is very empathic and understanding. David knows exactly what patients are experiencing as he has been there himself. He previously had a weight problem that was jeopardizing his health and he opted for gastric bypass surgery. David counsels patients before, during and after they have had surgery, requests approvals from insurance companies, schedules new patient orientations, and coordinates care with healthcare professionals as necessary. His duties include interacting with Internal Medicine physicians, Social Workers, the Nutritionist and Radiology/Cardiology, in preparation for patients’ surgeries, ensuring that all lab work is performed and clearance is obtained. David also facilitates the final pre-op appointment and routine follow-up appointments, as well as organizes and runs the monthly support groups held in Long Beach and in Apple Valley.
